Fine Custom Furniture and Accessories from Knox Mountain Woodworking of Vermont

I love butternut and walnut wood and had been wanting to build a piece that uses the two woods together. My hall tree / mud room bench incorporates them both (the lighter colored wood is the butternut). I allowed myself to utilize the knots in the butternut to my advantage. I think they add wonderfully to the character of the piece.

I built this piece specifically to introduce at a major show that I was in. To my surprise, it was the highlight of the booth, which I shared with many other Vermont woodworkers!

I designed this to allow for disassembly for easier transporting. The cubbies at the top are a separate unit as is the back. As a side benefit of this design, it makes it easy to customize. Do you have small children? Then why not build the cubbies so they run vertically down the side so they can easily be reached by your little ones? Do you want a piece that is a simpler storage bench, with a shorter back? I can do that too!

The piece in the photo is 69" tall, 40" wide and 16" deep, wide enough so that two people can be seated at the same time. But, as with everything I build, I can custom size it for your space.
